While statin use increased, so did heart disease, strokes and diabetes (1999-2005)

Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. Statin use increased dramatically from 1999 to 2005, however there was also a significant increase in coronary heart disease, strokes and diabetes when comparing the numbers from 1999 to 2005. "This study shows NO evidence that lowering LDL cholesterol decreases the prevalence of heart disease And [yet] what [the authors of this paper concluded] from this data is that we simply need to treat more people. Brilliant!" This is a quote from Michael Eades …

Pierre,

Thanks for all the info.

You might consider trying a little more niacin.

I think the dose of regular niacin for most people is more like 1000 mg three times per day for a total of 3000 mg.

Or with time-release niacin, about half that — 1500 m g per day.

A doctor who treated patients with niacin for 35 years wrote that larger doses of niacin do not cause more flushing that smaller doses.

The research suggests it is quite safe in doses up to 3 grams per day.

I dropped my chemically made statin,as expected LDL went up a little to 88. wanted to check if I could drop it with Red Yeast Rice: LDL went down to 60 but HDL is down to 29 so i decided to stop all statins intake and I'm on Niacin 1000mg/day. I'll update you in couple of month as to where my cholesterol levels are. I'm fairly confident my HDL levels will go up. I'm curious to see if the Niacin will help keep my LDL low. (I'm also taking aspirin, fish oil, flaxseed oil, Vit C (2g/day)
