Thank you for the info, but that video is referring to Type 2 diabetes, which is a metabolic disease, which can be controlled/affected by diet, activity level, etc. Type 1 (Juvenile Diabetes), which is what my daughter has, is an auto immune disease. Even with a perfect weight, diet, and exercise, type 1 requires insulin injections, because their little bodies do not produce any insulin anymore. I agree poor diets & obesity are huge problems, but Type 1 & 2 are very different diseases.

This is a great video! I feel so bad she was diagnosed at such a young age! she is just sooo cute! God bless you..i hope belle will have a very good life..just tell her to always watch her self and always make sure she is alright!
please be patient and never stop encoraging her. i am a type 1 diabetes and now i am 24, growing in a small country but i survive. and i bet she will too.. using injection was a horror for me, but now i am using a pump. wishing so much for your beautiful duaghter..
Beautiful video. My daughter was diagnosed at 18 mnths old. She is now four and has been pumping for two years. The learning curve you are experienceing is huge. So much more so with a child that cannot always recognize or communicate her body's syptoms. I know why people are pushung the pump, it really is an incredible tool, but you and your pediatric endo will know when you are ready for that step. From one mom of a toddler with D to another I wish you all the best.
It's called "Someday," by All-4-One.
what song is this?
hey what song is this
Great, glad you see a ped endo. Not trying to insult you (please don't think that) but we saw one that also came HIGHLY recommended for a few months. He wanted us to wait a year before pumping. After doing a LOT of research on my own I found this was not a requirement & a kid could even breeze through the honeymoon phase on a pump. So we found a different endo & we are thrilled with this one for a year now! =) Just be PROACTIVE for Belle's health, please. Learn as much as you can on your OWN.
We do see a pediatric endocrinologist. She's one that came very highly recommended, too. While I don't want to put too many details about the specifics of her treatment online (posting this video was a step into new territory for us), we are definitely exploring all of our options and have her best interest at heart, obviously. She was only diagnosed 4 months ago, and she's still definitely in the "honeymoon period," so we are still learning daily. Thank you for the info!
If you don't already see a pediatric ENDOCRINOLOGIST, please find one asap. Family doctors are nice, but do NOT know all they need to to help Belle as much as she needs. She absolutely does NOT need to wait 7 yrs. before pumping! There are tiny babies on pumps. Pumps improve HER life, YOUR life, and HER health! Don't wait, it is very important. There are thousands of toddlers on pumps & waiting is NOT something Belle needs to do, she can improve her life NOW. God bless you with wisdom…
You really need to see an ENDOCRINOLOGIST if you don't already. A pediatric one if possible… and Belle absolutely does NOT have to wait 7 years before the pump! The youngest pumper to date was only 2 days old when he went on the pump & there are literally thousands of toddlers pumping! Please find a supportive doctor/endo who understands that. A pump will improve Belle's life, your life, and her health! God bless you & give you wisdom on your journey. =)
Thank you! I just watched your video, too, and it's awesome! We've heard a lot about the pump, but we've been told she needs to be at least 7 years old before that's an option, thousands of needles away from now :(, but we've heard they are wonderful. Thanks again for your comforting words. We'll continue to pray for a CURE! I have faith it will happen someday!
My 11 yr. old also has this devastating disease. I don't know how long ago Belle's diagnosis was, but if you're still in the beginning phase, you're feeling overwhelmed & very sad, I know. Trust me, it never gets easy, but it does become more routine & easiER. Get Belle on a pump as SOON AS POSSIBLE. After a year on shots, her Omnipod changed her life!! We all pray for a cure, but until then, keep your chin up & teacher Belle that she CAN overcome this adversity. God bless your family. =)
Erin, you have such a beautiful family and my heart is with you.
Belle is an extraordinary little angel who radiates love and happiness to all those around her. What a vibrant personality!
